Taste Project: Fort Worth's Non-Profit Restaurant Makes National List of Top 100 Places to Eat in 2019

Taste Community Restaurant is a ‘Must Try’ in 2019.

Fort Worth’s non-profit restaurant, Taste Community Restaurant, has earned national status of “must try this year”.

With over 600,000 restaurants across the U.S., it can be hard to decide where to eat.  But Yelp has narrowed down the selections to the top 100 dining experiences you need to take note of and visit in the new year.  And, coming in at #74 is Fort Worth’s non-profit pay-what-you-can restaurant: Taste Community Restaurant.

“What an amazing blessing it is to be recognized by the Yelp community,” says Jeff Williams, Taste Project Founder and Executive Director.  “We hope this recognition only allows us to serve even more people, and share God’s love even more!”

“To determine Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat for 2019, we looked at the reviews received by businesses in the restaurant and food categories,” said Brenae Leary, Yelp’s Public Relations Manager.  “We considered both the rating and the volume of the reviews, while accounting for the overall volume of reviews in each business’s area so as not to disadvantage businesses in areas with relatively low review volume.”

Taste Community Restaurant is the first project of the Taste Project organization designed to help feed, educate, and serve Tarrant County’s food insecure population, a total of 16.6 percent of Tarrant County’s overall community (Feeding America).

Taste’s solution is a fresh and healthy pay-what-you-can restaurant where everyone in the community, regardless of financial means, can enjoy a healthy, high quality meal. The menu has no prices.  Guests are simply asked to:

  1. Pay what you can afford;

  2. Pay what you would typically pay; or

  3. Pay what you would typically pay, plus a little extra to help a neighbor in need.

“My heart left as full as my stomach. I experienced truly delicious food, joyful servers, and spontaneous community with other grateful guests. God bless this fabulous restaurant!” says Jessica, Taste Community Restaurant Guest and Yelp Reviewer.

“It is not a coincidence or fake reviews that give this place a steady perfect rating,” says Ai Vy, Taste Community Restaurant guest and Yelp Reviewer.  “This is the perfect place to get a great meal and also do some good deeds at the same time.”
